About me
Dr. Mandy Glettler is a clarinetist currently residing in Salt Lake City, where she maintains an independent teaching studio and performs professionally throughout the city. She has taught private music lessons (clarinet, saxophone, piano) for over two decades. Ms. Glettler holds a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance. Orginally from Saskatchewan, Canada, she completed her Bachelor's degree at the University of Victoria where she studied with Patricia Kostek. Mandy played with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and The Doxa Theo Trio before moving to Utah to pursue a Master's degree at the University of Utah. Upon completion of her MM, she remained in Salt Lake to further her studies with Kathy Pope and obtain a DMA. While at the University of Utah, Dr. Glettler was the Instructor for Woodwind Pedagogy - a required course for undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Music Education. Mandy has performed with the University of Utah Wind Symphony, the Philharmonia, New Music Ensemble, Ballet West, Pioneer Theater and various chamber groups.
Dr. Glettler believes that students benefit greatly from one-on-one instruction from a specialist on his or her instrument. Students who study privately progress at a much faster rate than those who choose not to study privately. Additionally, private lessons allow for a student to contribute to a higher caliber music ensemble within your school program. It is essential to share the benefits of private lessons with your student or child and have them increase their musical abilities.
Dr. Glettler tailors each lesson to the individual’s strengths and weaknesses so they can learn in the best possible manner. In addition to technique and musicality, she incorporates theoretical and historical aspects into each lesson. Mandy wants her students to have the most well-rounded musical education possible. Her students have pursued music at the college level and have been the recipients of various scholarships and awards both regionally and nationally.
