Studio Policy
Clarinet Studio Policy of Mandy Glettler, MM, DMA
These are specific guidelines that I strictly adhere to in regards to the billing process, late fees, attendance, and missed lessons. These guidelines are consistently maintained and are not altered as they allow the business component of the music lessons to flow smoothly and equitably. These policies not only protect me, but protect the student and parent.
Please read these policies with care as they pertain directly to your lesson attendance and payment.
ANNUAL SCHEDULE
Lessons occur throughout the entire year and students commit to lessons on a monthly basis.
LESSON TIMES
Lessons are scheduled in allotted times of 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour. A mutually agreed upon lesson day and time will be arranged prior to the first lesson. Your monthly fees reserve your weekly time slot.
Please make every effort to arrive promptly so that you will have your full allotment of time. If you are late beginning your lesson due to the teacher, you will still have the full time allotted. If the lesson has a late start due to the student, the student will receive only the remainder of their allotted time slot.
The teacher reserves the right to adjust the fees based on the current market and changing circumstances.
TUITION
Tuition covers not only the actual lesson time spent with the student, but time preparing for each student as well.
This includes:
PAYMENT
Lesson tuition for the upcoming month is due in the last week of the previous month (eg. February tuition is due the last week of January). All lesson fees are due no later than the 10th each month. Late payments upset my personal income and bill-paying process and it is necessary to ensure that these payments are received on time.
Should you fail to submit prompt payment, your lessons will cease immediately and your lesson time can be given to another paying student. Fees are due during the last week of the previous month, regardless of if you have a scheduled lesson during that week. If you do not have a lesson in the final week of the month, please make arrangements to submit that payment. Any tuition that is not received by the 10th day of the month will incur a late fee of $20 and lessons will cease until the payment and late fee has been received.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Try to choose a lesson time in which you feel confident. Please understand that the tuition you pay reserves an exclusive weekly time in my schedule. Unlike a doctor or a hairstylist, I cannot resell that time nor can I create extra teaching time in which to give lessons.
MAKE-UP LESSON PROTOCOL
Because I am both a teacher and performer, my schedule occasionally changes and I may have to cancel a lesson due to a rehearsal or performance. Should this ever happen, I will let you know with as much advance notice as possible. In these rare cases, I will present the option of a reschedule or tuition credit for that lesson. The same options will be offered in the event of my own sickness or emergency.
*If a student withdraws and terminates lessons before the end of the month, payments will not be reimbursed - see lesson termination policy below*
LESSON TERMINATION
Should you need to terminate lessons during your semester commitment, I require a 30 day notice. If the 30 day notice does not occur, a termination fee will be required in the amount equivalent to a 30 day period of weekly lessons.
If you need to cancel your lessons at the end of the semester, please provide me the courtesy of a one-month notice prior to the end of that semester.
PREPARATION
Students are expected to come to their lessons prepared. This will mean different things for each student but always come to your lesson with your instrument, reeds, necessary accessories, music, and lesson book. Students are expected to practice regularly throughout the week. This practice time will be determined together by the teacher and the student. This leads to better and faster progress and improvement. In the event that a student leaves their instrument or music behind OR does not complete the weekly preparation as asked, the instructor reserves the right to end the lesson early without reschedule or reimbursement.
CONTACT INFORMATION
It is very important that the teacher have updated contact information for each student. This includes home and cell phone numbers, a mailing address and an email address. Please supply the teacher with this information and notify me of any changes.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
All students (and a parent or guardian of students under the age of 18) are asked to sign or submit (see below) an Acknowledgement form at the first lesson stating that they have read and agree to the above policy.
